The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (“NAIC”) has issued the following urgent bulletin and conference call notice:

U.S. Senators Mel Martinez and Bill Nelson have asked the NAIC to provide input on pending Federal Bill HR 1065/S 929, “The Nonadmitted and Reinsurance Reform Act of 2007.”

If enacted, this legislation will have a significant impact on how states are allowed to regulate reinsurance. 

The bill already has unanimously passed the U.S. House of Representatives.

The NAIC Government Relations Leadership Council has therefore instructed the Reinsurance Task Force to make recommendations to the Council on how the NAIC should respond to this legislation.
