Update – Florida’s No-Fault Law

Sep 25, 2007

The Florida Senate and House of Representatives will hold committee hearings on October 2, 2007 in order discuss legislation to reenact and/or revise PIP.  Specifically, the Senate Banking & Insurance Committee will meet from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Knott Building, Room 412 and the House Insurance Committee will meet from 4:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Morris Hall of the House Office Building.  The Florida Legislature will thereafter convene for a Special Session from October 3, 2007 through October 12, 2007 to discuss budgetary issues.

It is our understanding that certain legislators are planning to file a mandatory bodily injury coverage bill as an alternative to extending PIP, and certain insurers may change their position in favor of that option in an attempt to definitively “kill” No-Fault.

We will continue to keep you updated as new information is received.
