THE NEWS SERVICE OF FLORIDA: Workers’ Comp Issue Left To Last Day
May 1, 2009
Lawmakers have left to the last day for non-budget bills the question of how to respond to a 2008 Supreme Court decision that nullified a fee schedule for lawyers in workers compensation cases.
Businesses, fearing higher workers comp insurance rates, wants to restore the fee cap – and so does the House, which passed a bill restoring the fee early in the session.
But the Senate has a bill without a stringent cap. It will be a bargaining chip today as the window for passing non-budget bills closes.
