Texas Department of Insurance Mandatory Data Call for First Quarter Experience Due May 15, 2015

The Texas Department of Insurance (“TDI”) advised today, April 7, 2015, that it has issued a mandatory data call for First Quarter Experience under Texas Insurance Code Sections 2251.003, 2251.008, and 38.001 to all insurance companies, corporations, exchanges, mutuals, reciprocals, associations, Lloyd’s and other insurers licensed to write certain types of lines.

The information to be collected by the data call will be the basis for a report that the TDI is required to submit quarterly to the governor and to the Legislature. The data is designed to provide the TDI with immediate access to market condition information.
Insurers must respond to this data call using the aforementioned instructions no later than May 15, 2015. They also must retain underlying data, individual source documents and other information used to develop the response until at least May 15, 2017.
Insurers that do not respond to this data call within the time limits specified will be in violation of the Texas Insurance Code and subject to the applicable penalties.
Insurers are required to complete the data call using the interactive PDF forms available online at www.tdi.texas.gov/bulletins/index.html. These forms require Adobe Acrobat 7.0 or higher, or a compatible version of Adobe Reader.
Separate forms must be submitted for each company in a group licensed for one or more lines of business covered in the data call.
