TEST Florida Workers’ Compensation Joint Underwriting Association Producer Committee Approves Electronic Document Submission Operations Manual Updates
Aug 10, 2010
The Florida Workers’ Compensation Joint Underwriting Association (“FWCJUA”) Producer Committee (“Committee”) met via teleconference on August 9, 2010 and approved two items related to the FWCJUA’s new online producer application process. Beginning September 1, 2010, the organization will require that all applications be submitted via its online system.
When the online system was implemented by the FWCJUA, the Board of Directors recommended that the producer community be given six months to acclimate to it before electronic submissions become mandatory.
As of this Committee report, 77 percent of application submissions originate through the FWCJUA Web site. However, 100 percent of applications are now being processed online since those who submit hard copies are contacted by the FWCJUA and instructed to resubmit them via the online system.
The Committee voted to approve various modifications to the FWCJUA Operations Manual, which contains rules and procedures for submitting applications. These changes reflect the exclusive use of the online application and remove any instructions regarding hard copy applications.
Streamlining the process for agencies to submit applications for appointment was the next item on the Committee’s agenda. Since the last Committee meeting, a PDF file format version of the Agency Producer Agreement form that is filled out electronically and then e-mailed to the FWCJUA has replaced the previous version, which required agencies to complete the form by hand prior to submission.
The Committee approved a revision to the FWCJUA Operations Manual making it consistent with the Agency Producer Agreement, which states that termination, revocation, and suspension notices can be delivered by electronic mail, registered or certified mail, express mail, or overnight courier. Formerly, notices were sent solely via certified mail.
The approved items will receive further consideration by the FWCJUA Rates and Forms Committee at its August 16, 2010 meeting.
With no other business to be discussed, the meeting was adjourned.
A copy of the meeting materials, which show the additions and deletions to the Operations Manual, are attached for review.
