The Ritz Carlton Amelia Island · Plaza I

Social media and Internet searches have become an integral part of our personal and professional lives and are routinely utilized in insurance investigations during claims handling and litigation.  Join us as we explore the “Treasure Trove” of personal and often damaging information claimants and litigants make available on the Web, and how this information can be ethically and effectively used.  The session will include discussions on:

  • Practical approaches to effective investigative research
  • Ethical considerations when performing social media investigations
  • Key findings from court rulings on accessing social media
  • Use of social media and Internet profiles for jury selection and trial

Presented by Maria Elena Abate and Amy L. Koltnow (Colodny Fass& Webb) and S. Ross Suter (Magna Legal Services)

Lunch provided by Magna Legal Services

“Compliance Pitfalls and Pathways:  Current Trends in Predictive Modeling/Analytics”

January 29th · 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.

The Ritz Carlton Amelia Island · Plaza II

Predictive analytics.  The volume of data it’s producing is nothing short of mountainous, but insurers are only beginning to learn how to leverage its benefits.  Our breakout session on “Compliance Pitfalls and Pathways” will explore current trends and provide a non-technical introduction into the use of data mining and predictive analytics in the insurance industry.  Underwriting, pricing, marketing and claims handling are all among the insurance disciplines that can benefit from enhanced and skillful use of predictive analytics.

Join us for a discussion on the primary insurance functions in which predictive analytics is employed.  We’ll also highlight the types of operational compliance and legal risks that insurance executives should be aware of.  We’ll even offer a few predictions on future trends.

Presented by Claude Mueller (Colodny Fass& Webb); Jason Masch (Guy Carpenter); Robin Westcott (American Association of Insurance Services); Ryan Purdy (Merlinos & Associates); and Doug Greer (Alvarez & Marsal);

Lunch provided by U.S. Legal Support
