Statement By Democratic Leader Dan Gelber On Property Insurance Accountability
TALLAHASSEE, FL— House Democratic Leader Dan Gelber (D-Miami Beach) issued the following statement in response to the on-going Senate hearings on property insurance accountability and the lack of participation by the Florida House of Representatives:
“Floridians should be wondering why the Republican House leadership has been notably absent in addressing the single most important issue facing families across our state.
“The bi-partisan insurance reforms that passed last year were well-intended, but have not delivered the results Floridians were demanding. The Senate has conducted their first series of open hearings where the insurance industry has been subpoenaed to address why Floridians are not witnessing rate reductions. The Florida House should do the same.
“Floridians cannot afford having their House of Representatives signaling to the insurance lobby, ‘we got your back.’â€
*** Attached you will also find a letter Leader Gelber sent to Chairman Reagan two weeks ago calling for the House to conduct its own investigative hearings.
