Senate Recommends Continued Public Records Exemption for Florida Public Model Data; Additional Interim Project Reports Released

In an Interim Project Report released today, October 5, 2009, the Florida Senate Committee on Banking and Insurance recommended continuing the public records exemption for hurricane loss-related data provided by insurers to Florida International University for use in developing and maintaining the Florida Public Hurricane Loss Projection Model.
The information currently provided by insurers that is exempt includes:
- The type, age, location and wind mitigation features of each insured property;
- Amount and type of coverage written on each property;
- Amount, date and type of damage reimbursed by the insurer on each property; and
- The amount of reserves held by an insurer for future payments or expenses on damages associated with the date, or dates of hurricane occurrences.
