Senate Banking and Insurance Committee Meeting Agenda: Mar. 11

House and Senate versions of bills that have been prepared as a result of the work of the Task Force on Citizens Property Insurance Claims Handling and Resolution (“Task Force”) have been filed for the 2008 Legislative Session.

The Senate Banking and Insurance Committee (“Committee”) is scheduled to consider the Senate versions of these billis on Tuesday, March 11 from 9-11:30 a.m. in Room 412 of the Knott Building, The Capitol, Tallahassee, Florida:

  • Senate Bill 1018–Relating to Property Insurance Appraisal Umpires by Senator Mike Fasano

The House versions of the above bills are:

  • House Bill 563–Relating to Property Insurance Appraisal Umpires by Representative Julio Robaina
  • House Bill 661–Relating to Public Adjusters by Representatives Julio Robaina and Juan Zapata

Other items on the Committee agenda include:

  • SB 0648–Relating to Insurable Interests/Insurance Contracts by Senator Bill Posey
  • SB 2082— Relating to Annuity Products by Senator Mike Bennett
  • SB 1968–Relating to Health Insurance by Senator Bill Posey
  • SB 1022–Relating to Health Flex Plans by Senator Durrell Peaden
  • SB 2012–Relating to Insurance/Notice of Cancellation/Long-Term Care by Senator Ted Deutch
  • SB 2158–Relating to Money Services Businesses by the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee
  • SB 1554–Relating to Firesafety/Structure Markings by Senator Stephen Wise
  • SB 0874–Relating to Title Loans/Regulation/Consumers by Senator Mike Fasano
  • A presentation on the financial status of Citizens Property Insurance Corporation will also be given

The purpose of the Task Force is to make recommendations to Florida’s legislative and executive branches relating to the handling, service, and resolution of claims by Citizens Property Insurance Corporation (“Citizens”) that are sufficient to ensure that all Citizens’ policyholders and claimants receive appropriate treatment by Citizens.

A member of this Firm will attend the Committee meeting and provide a report on the proceedings.
