Second leg of Medicaid managed care tour kicks off in Florida
A second leg of the Agency for Health Care Administration Medicaid managed care tour has been announced.
Agency staff on Sept. 12 and Sept. 13 will be in South Florida addressing crowds in Marathon at the government center as well as the University of Miami in Coral Gables.
An AHCA spokesperson said those are the only announced dates thus far “but it is likely we will return to other areas of the state in the future.”
She said the meetings are “the next step in a continual effort to collect public input and keep Floridians informed of our progress.”
A whirlwind one week 11-city tour occurred over the summer.
The state was required under the 2011 law to hold a meeting in at least one city in each of the 11 regions across the state. HMOs and managed care plans will bid on Medicaid patients in each region and the state will limit the number of plans that can participate in each region.
Agency staff attended each meting taking notes on the public input. The law directed the state to consider the input while developing the Medicaid waivers required to implement the new statewide medicaid managed care program.
