REMINDER: FPCA Members Invited to Participate in Florida Insurance Consumer Advocate’s Claims Dispute Roundtable

REMINDER: On November 18, 2009, the Office of the Florida Insurance Consumer Advocate will once again convene members of the insurance industry with home repair/remodeling professionals in order to finalize recommendations from a July Claims Dispute Resolution Roundtable that explored ways to resolve issues arising from disparities in the claims and repair processes.
Florida Insurance Consumer Advocate Sean Shaw has extended an invitation to Florida Property Casualty Association members to participate in the November 18 meeting. Should you wish to participate, please contact Katie Webb at kwebb@cftlaw.com no later than Wednesday, November 11.
Representatives from the following entities are scheduled to speak at the November 18 Roundtable:
- Florida Department of Community Affairs will speak about areas of concern relative to the Florida Building Codes;
- Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation will speak about the development of an Optional Continuing Education Course for contractors;
- Florida Department of Financial Services will speak about the development of a Continuing Education Course for insurance adjusters;
- Florida Insurance Appraisal and Umpire Association will speak about the appraisal process; and
- The Mortgage Banker Association of Florida will speak about the disbursement of property insurance proceeds.
The Roundtable also will finalize its claim dispute resolution recommendations.
A draft of best practices for contractors and estimators, a compilation of recommendations from the previous Roundtable and a brochure from Citzens Property Insurance Corporation that is given to its policyholders after a claim has been reported are attached.
