Florida House of Representatives Session
The Florida House held Session on Thursday, April 23, during which it heard the following insurance-related bills:
- CS/CS/CS/HB 1495 relating to Insurance by the House Full Appropriations Council on General Government and Health Care and State Representative Bryan Nelson (R-Apopka)
- Update: CS/CS/CS/HB 1495 was read a second time on the House Floor and three amendments were adopted. The bill, to which eight amendments have been filed on April 24, is awaiting a third reading. To view the most recent bill analysis, click here.
- CS/HB 853 relating to Surplus Lines Insurers by the House General Government Policy Council and State Representative Pat Patterson (R-DeLand)
- Update: CS/HB 853 was read a second time on the House Floor; two amendments were withdrawn. The bill, to which one amendment has been filed, awaits a third reading. To view the most recent bill analysis, click here.
- CS/CS/HB 845 relating to Self-Insurance Funds by the House General Government Policy Council and State Representative Brad Drake (R-DeFuniak Springs)
- Update: CS/CS/HB 845 was amended on third reading and PASSED the House (117Y-0N) after which it was sent to the Senate for consideration, where it has been referred to the Senate Committees on Banking and Insurance; Communications, Energy and Public Utilities; Higher Education; and Policy and Steering Committee on Ways and Means. - CS/CS/HB 453 relating to Tax Credits for Contributions to Nonprofit Scholarship-Funding Organizations by the House Finance and Tax Council and State Representative Will Weatherford (R-Wesley Chapel)
- Update: CS/CS/HB 453 PASSED the House (94Y-23N) on third reading and was sent to the Senate for consideration, where it has been referred to the Senate Committees on Education Pre-K-12; Finance and Tax; Education Pre-K-12 Appropriations; and Policy and Steering Committee on Ways and Means. Florida Senate Session
The Florida Senate held Session on Thursday, April 23, during which it heard the following insurance-related bill:
- CS/CS/1st ENG/SB 2252 relating to Professional Liability Claims by the Senate Committee on General Government Appropriations and State Senator Carey Baker (R-Eustis)
- Update: CS/CS/1st ENG/SB 2252 PASSED the Senate on third reading as previously amended (40Y-0N) and has not yet been sent to the House. To view the most recent bill analysis, click here.
Please note: CS/CS/SB 1950 was scheduled to be heard, but was postponed for the fourth consecutive day.
CS/CS/SB 1950 relating to Property Insurance by the Senate Policy and Steering Committee on Ways and Means and State Senator Garrett Richter (R-Naples)
