Public Hearing on the Use of Catastrophe Modeling Scheduled Prior to NAIC Fall Meeting

The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (“NAIC”) Property and Casualty Insurance (C) Committee issued the announcement below regarding a public hearing on the Use of Catastrophe Modeling by Rating Agencies.
The hearing is scheduled for Saturday, December 1, 2007 in Houston, Texas from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. prior to the start of the NAIC Fall Meeting on December 2-4, 2007.

SUBJECT:Â Catastrophe Modeling Public Hearing
As announced at the NAIC Fall National Meeting, the Property and Casualty Insurance (C) Committee will hold a public hearing at the Fall National Meeting The purpose of the hearing is to continue to address the Committee charge related to catastrophe modeling and to continue the discussion with an examination of the use of catastrophe modeling by rating agencies. The focus of the hearing will be the impact that financial rating agencies have on catastrophe insurance markets.
The hearing will be Saturday, December 1 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. in the Lanier Grand Ballroom E Level 4 at the Hilton Americas Hotel, 1600 Lamar St., Houston, TX. Additional information about the NAIC Fall National Meeting is available at www.naic.org.
