Proposed Rule Would Exempt Existing Certified Adjusters from Licensure Examination Requirement

Nov 3, 2009

On November 2, 2009, the Florida Department of Financial Services, Division of Agent and Agency Services held a Rule Development Workshop on Proposed Rule 69B-211.320 entitled “Curriculum Standards for Special Designation.”

For applicants seeking designation as an Accredited Claims Adjuster, Professional Claims Adjuster, Professional Property Insurance Adjuster from the HurriClaim Training Academy or Certified Claims Adjuster from the Association of Property and Casualty Claims Professionals, the current requirement for licensure is at least 40 course hours.

As it would be amended, the Rule would add “Certified Adjuster (CA)” to the list of “ALL LINES Training” designations exempted by Florida law from the requirement of an examination for licensure (click here for a list of circumstances in which an applicant may be exempt from the applicable licensure examination). With this change, the existing Rule would be conformed to the current statute.

With no public comments having been made at the Workshop, another public hearing will be scheduled to consider the proposed Rule.

Colodny Fass will provide further information on this hearing as details become available.

The meeting notice, agenda and proposed Rule text are attached for your review.
