President Obama Declares Disaster for Florida’s Holmes, Walton and Washington Counties for July 2-7, 2013
Aug 5, 2013
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency announced on August 2, 2013 that federal disaster aid has been made available to the State of Florida to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area affected by severe storms and flooding during the period of July 2-7, 2013.
The President’s action makes federal funding available to state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by severe storms and flooding in Holmes, Walton, and Washington counties.
Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide.
Terry L. Quarles has been named as the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area. Quarles said additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the state and warranted by the results of further damage assessments.
