OIR Cancels Hearings

The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (“OIR”) has cancelled the public rate hearings scheduled for American Southern Home Insurance Company on October 11, 2007; St. John’s Insurance Company, Inc. on November 1, 2007; and State Farm Florida Insurance Company, State Farm Florida Fire and Casualty Insurance Company and State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company on November 14, 2007.

Additionally, the hearing on Rule 69O-149.003(6)(d), relating to establishing the “maximum medical trend” that can be used by a health insurer in calculating the appropriate rates to be charged for medical insurance (i.e., the expected amount medical bills will increase over the next year), originally scheduled for October 5, 2007, has now been rescheduled for November 14, 2007.
