Office of Insurance Regulation re Workshops Demonstrating the New Reporting System for the FHCF Emergency Assessment 9/15/06
Jan 14, 2007
The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (“OIR”) hosted workshops on September 14 and September 15, 2006 in which Carol McBrier demonstrated the new Reporting System for the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund Emergency Assessment.
The Reporting System requires all Florida authorized property and casualty insurers to electronically file a reporting spreadsheet and wire transfer information relating to the remittance of the emergency assessment. Insurers must have an iPortal account to log into the new Reporting System, which should be accessible by the end of October at https://iportal.fldfs.com/ifile/default.asp.
The Reporting System allows producers to create different files for different companies which can be maintained in a central filing station called the Filing Workbench. It also contains an “associate use” feature which allows someone other than the original user to access and modify a file saved on the Reporting System.
We have attached for your review Informational Memoranda OIR-06-017M and OIR-06-019M which describe the reporting requirements and the Reporting System in greater detail. We have also attached Instructions for completing the Reporting Spreadsheet and a form Reporting Spreadsheet. Please note that both the Instructions and the Reporting Spreadsheet were revised August 29, 2006.
Within the next two weeks, the OIR will release instructions regarding a preliminary reporting test-run using the Reporting Spreadsheet. All insurers writing assessable lines of business must submit a preliminary report by November 15, 2006. We will monitor this situation and provide the information regarding the preliminary reporting as soon as it is released.
For those who have not yet reviewed the OIR’s Order concerning Emergency Assessments, Percentages, Timing and Procedures for Remitting and Reporting, a copy of the Order is attached hereto. Additionally, you can access these documents at the OIR website, www.floir.com, by selecting the Hot Topics link for Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund Emergency Assessment.
