Tallahassee, FL –State Senator Mike Bennett (R-Bradenton) and State Representative Scott Plakon (R-Longwood) have filed legislation that requires that the Financial Services Commission reconfirm the appointment of the Director of the Office of Insurance Regulation and the Director of the Office of Financial Regulation every 2 years. The Financial Services Commission is composed of the Governor, the Attorney General, the Chief Financial Officer and the Commissioner of Agriculture.
The bill will be heard in the Banking and Insurance Committee tomorrow, March 17, 2010, from 1pm – 3pm. Because all Floridians are affected by the implementation of public policies by these two offices, it is important to raise the level of accountability for these two powerful positions that have direct influences on the quality of life for Floridians.
