Oct 8, 2013
The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation advised that new Rule Chapter 61-30 relating to the licensing and regulation of home inspectors becomes effective on October 22, 2013.
The regulations address, among other topics, home inspector licensing requirements, license delinquency and renewal, continuing education, discipline, and standards of practice.

In 2012, Florida Governor Rick Scott enacted legislation reducing the amount of continuing education required to reactivate a home inspector license. Now, licensees only have to complete one renewal cycle of continuing education for the time their license was inactive.
Florida’s home inspector services licensing program was codified in 2007. Related rulemaking has been ongoing since 2010.
Similar rulemaking on Mold-Related Services licensees is still pending.
