New fire station opens near Palencia
St. Johns County Fire Station 15 has opened, which should mean better response times and lower insurance rates in the U.S. 1 North corridor.
Fire Station 15 is at 220 Pine Island Road in St. Augustine, and it will help fill a service gap that had existed in north central St. Johns County, said Jeremy Robshaw, public information officer for St. Johns County Fire Rescue.
The station will serve residents and businesses of Palencia, Kensington, Walden Chase, Las Calinas, Pine Island areas, Nease High School and the U.S. 1 North corridor.
The extra station will provide relief to several areas, including the World Golf Village, County Road 210, Palm Valley and communities around the airport.
St. Johns County Fire Rescue plans to host a community open house at the station this fall.
