NCOIL REQUESTS LANGUAGE FOR A MODEL ACT ON RENTAL VEHICLE DAMAGE WAIVERS

Aug 13, 2007

Candace Thorson, from the National Conference of Insurance Legislators (“NCOIL”), is requesting “language submissions” for an NCOIL model act on rental vehicle damage waivers.  Ms. Thorson e-mailed the following request to all Property-Casualty Interested Parties earlier today:

The NCOIL Property-Casualty Insurance Committee—as per Committee discussion at the recent NCOIL Summer Meeting in Seattle—is requesting that interested parties submit, within 30 days, language that they think would be appropriate for an NCOIL model act on rental vehicle damage waivers.

The deadline for submission of comments is Monday, September 10.

The new model act would be submitted in accordance with the 30-day deadline for the November NCOIL Annual Meeting.

It would replace two other proposals, considered by the Committee earlier this year, that focus on disclosure and liability insurance coverage, respectively.

Please contact Ms. Thorson at the NCOIL National Office (518-687-0178) or by e-mail (cthorson@nolan-associates.com) should you have any questions.

Should you have any questions or comments regarding this information, please feel free to contact this office.
