NCOIL Holds STOLI Debate
Apr 27, 2007
The National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL) Subcommittee Attached recently held an interim meeting on Life Settlements. The public meeting, held on April 21 outside Washington, D.C., provided interested parties an opportunity to debate the appropriate approach to isolate stranger-originated life insurance (STOLI) from legitimate industry transactions in an NCOIL Life Settlements Model Act, to be considered in July.
NCOIL is an organization of state legislators interested in insurance legislation and regulation. Many legislators active in NCOIL either chair or are members of the committees responsible for insurance legislation in their respective state houses across the country.
