Maine Superintendant of Insurance Eric A. Cioppa of the Maine Department of Professional and Financial Regulation Bureau of Insurance has issued a Notice of Rulemaking to repeal Maine Insurance Rule Chapter 680, Medical Liability Demonstration Project.
No public hearing is scheduled. A public hearing will be held if requested by five interested persons.
Repeal is proposed in light of the repeal of the statutory authority for the Medical Liability Demonstration Project by 1999 PL c. 668. General authority for this repeal action is provided by 24-A M.R.S.A. 212. Professional judgment is the only source of information for this proposal. This office does not believe the proposed repeal of this rule has any effect on small business.
All interested parties are invited to submit written comments. Written comments must be received no later than December 9, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. and should be addressed to Sarah Hewitt, Maine Bureau of Insurance, 34 State House Station, Augusta, Maine 04333.
