Louisiana House Insurance Committee Votes to Expand Insurer Investment Options
Mar 31, 2010
A bill that expands investment options for insurance companies in Louisiana was passed unanimously by the Louisiana House of Representatives Insurance Committee today, March 31.
Among other provisions, the bill, HB 284, would enable insurers to invest in stocks and bonds of financially sound NASDAQ-listed companies, as well as those listed on the New York and American stock exchanges. Existing law allows investments only in companies on the latter two exchanges.

The measure, sponsored by Insurance Committee Chairman Chuck Kleckley (R-Lake Charles), now moves to the House floor for consideration by the full chamber.
