Insurance-Related Legislative Meetings

House Speaker Marco Rubio has scheduled additional House Council meetings for the week of February 11-15 in order to work through recommendations for initial budget reductions for consideration by the entire House during the first week of the Regular 2008 Session.

No Senate legislative committee meetings will be held during the week of Feb. 11-15.

There are no insurance-related legislative meetings scheduled during this time.

Monday, February 11

  • The U.S. House Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will hold a Field Hearing on Monday, February 11, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Palm Beach County Commission Chambers, 301 North Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida. The Hearing may be viewed via webcast by clicking here. The Field Hearing, entitled “The Homeowners’ Insurance Crisis and its Impact on Communities, Homeowners and the Economy” will focus on the current homeowners’ insurance crisis in Florida and other disaster-prone areas.

 

Tuesday, February 12

  • The Florida Surplus Lines Service Offices’ Audit Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at 1441 Maclay Commerce Drive, Suite 200, Tallahassee, Florida. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the 2007 Office of Insurance Regulation Financial Audit.

 

 

Wednesday, February 13

  • The Florida Insurance Guaranty Association will hold its annual Board of Directors meeting on February 13, 2008 at 1400 Oven Park Drive, Tallahassee, Florida. No call-in number is available for this meeting.

Feb. 11

Finance and Taxation Committee–discussion of constitutional proposals regarding revenue caps for state and local governments, tax issues and property issues.

Feb. 12

Governmental Procedures and Structure Committee–discussion to include constitutional proposals on revenue raising abilities and education funding.

Feb. 13

Taxation and Budget Reform Committee–review of reports from various TBRC Committees.

 

  • The Florida Energy Commission will hold a meeting on Monday, February 11, 2008 at the Florida Atlantic University SeaTech Campus in Fort Lauderdale to discuss energy efficiency, greenhouse gas reduction and funding sources for alternative energies.
