Monday, July 28
The Florida Commission on Hurricane Loss Projection Methodology held a meeting on Monday, July 28, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. through 1:00 p.m. to discuss and receive input on CS/SB 2860, which was passed during the 2008 Legislative Session.Â

Tuesday, July 29
The Florida Cabinet held a meeting on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 starting at 9:00 a.m. in the Cabinet Meeting Room, Lower Level, The Capitol, in Tallahassee, Florida.
Government entities scheduled to speak include:
- Division of Bond Finance
- Office of Insurance Regulation
- Administration Commission
- Florida Land and Water Adjudicatory Commission
- Board of Trustees, Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services
- Power Plant Siting Board
- Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund

The Cabinet will vote to approve the appointment of Randy Dumm, Ph.D., as Chair of Florida Commission on Hurricane Loss Projection Methodology, for the 2008-2009 year. Also, a resolution by Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink recognizing the Sustainable Florida Awards will be given and a vote on the Interim Executive Director of the Agency for Enterprise Information Technology will be taken.Â

Wednesday, July 30
The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation will hold a rate hearing on Wednesday, July 30 regarding the Florida Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company and Florida Farm Bureau General Insurance Company’s request for a 28.4 percent overall increase for new and renewal homeowners’ insurance policies, effective December 1, 2008. The rate increases are not uniform and some areas would be subject to higher rate increases. The hearing begins at 9:00 a.m. in the Senate Office Building, Room 401, The Capitol, in Tallahassee Florida. This meeting also will be available for real time viewing via webcast by clicking here.

Thursday, July 31
The National Association of Insurance Commissioners will hold a Catastrophe Modeling Issues Group meeting on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. The call-in number for this meeting is 412.317.6715. Attendees must register through Chorus Call and have an I.P. code to participate in the conference call.Â

The Florida Department of Revenue has posted a Notice of Development of Rulemaking for proposed Rule 12B-8.003: Tax Statement; Overpayments
The proposed amendments to Rule 12B-8.003, F.A.C. would: (1) adopt, by reference, changes to forms used by the Department in the administration of the insurance premium tax; and (2) update the information on how to obtain copies of forms from the Department.
A hearing is scheduled for August 5, 2008 at 10:00 a.m.
