House Insurance, Business & Financial Affairs Policy Committee

The House Insurance, Business & Financial Affairs Policy Committee met today, March 17, 8 a.m.-Noon, Webster Hall, The Capitol, Tallahassee.  Insurance-related bills on the agenda include:

  • HB 351 Relating to Property Insurance Rate Reduction by Representative John Legg (R-Port Richey)
    • Update:  HB 351 PASSED, strike-all amendment conforms to Senate version; requires insurance discounts for sinkhole mitigation
  • HB 845 Relating to Self-Insurance Funds by Representative Brad Drake (R-DeFuniak Springs)
    • Update:  HB 845 PASSED, two amendments; more information to come
  • HB 853 Relating to Surplus Lines Insurers by Representative Pat Patterson (R-DeLand)
    • Update:  HB 853 PASSED, no amendments; more information to come
  • HB 629 Relating to Health Clinics by Representative Paige Kreegel (R-Punta Gorda)
    • Update:  HB 629 PASSED, no amendments; exempts from Health Care Clinic Act definition those clinics not seeking PIP reimbursement

Senate Banking and Insurance Committee

The Senate Banking and Insurance Committee meets today, March 17, 3:30-5:30 p.m. in Room 412 of the Knott Building, The Capitol, Tallahassee.  Insurance-related bills on the agenda include:

  • SB 1894 Relating to Surplus Lines Insurers by Senator Mike Bennett (R-Bradenton)
  • SB 2282 Relating to First Responder Services by Senators Bennett and Evelyn Lynn (R-Ocala)
