Insurance-Related Bills Scheduled for Consideration on Thursday, March 27

The following Florida Legislative Committees will consider the listed insurance-related bills on Thursday, March 27, 2008. 

 

House Jobs and Entrepreneurship Council  

The House Jobs and Entrepreneurship Council (“Council”) will hold a Budget Workshop Thursday, March 27, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to noon.  The Council will consider the following insurance-related bills.

HB 375 — Insurable Interests by Representative Dorothy Hukill
HB 535 — Health Insurance by Representative Larry Cretul 
CS/HB 565 — Insurance by the Government Efficiency and Accountability Council and Representative Bryan Nelson 
HB 1161 — Group Self-Insurance Funds by Representative Don Brown

The Council also will consider the following insurance-related proposed council bills:

PCB JEC 08-03 — Surplus Lines Tax Revenues
PCB JEC 08-04 — Workers Compensation Medical Services Unit (bill text not available at this time)
PCB JEC 08-10 — Insurance Capital Build-Up Incentive Program 

 

Senate General Government Appropriations Committee

The Senate General Government Appropriations Committee (“Committee”) will meet on Thursday, March 27 from 4:00 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The agenda will include finalizing the following:

• Chairman’s budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2008-2009
• Proviso language for Fiscal Year 2008-2009
• Implementing bill language for Fiscal Year 2008-2009
• Conforming bill language for Fiscal Year 2008-2009

The Committee also will consider SB 2082 Relating to Insurance by the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee and Senator Mike Bennett.

 

Senate Governmental Operations Committee

The Senate Governmental Operations Committee will meet from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on March 27.  Included on the agenda will the the consideration of SB 1684 Relating to Title Insurance by Senator Carey Baker.
