Notice of Rulemaking Development: Training Standards for Long-Term Care Insurance Agents

The Department of Financial Services, Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (“OIR”), has issued a Notice of Development of Rulemaking regarding the following Rule:

The purpose of this Rule is to provide the required training standards for insurance agents who sell long-term care insurance. This Rule outlines training standards that are consistent with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ recommended standards.

If requested in writing and not deemed unnecessary by the agency head, a Rule Development Workshop will be held at the date, time and place below:

The Florida Department of Financial Services, Division of Consumer Services, has issued a Notice of Change regarding the following Rule:

  • 69J-2.003: Mediation Procedures for Resolution of Disputed Personal Lines Insurance Claims Arising from the 2004 and 2005 Hurricanes and Tropical Storms

Changes are being made to address issues raised at a previously-held public hearing and by the Joint Administrative Procedures Committee.

A Notice of Withdrawal was issued by the OIR for the following Rules:

Notice of Hearing: Workers’ Compensation Rate Filing from NCCI

The Florida Department of Financial Services, Office of Insurance Regulation, has issued a Notice of Hearing regarding the workers’ compensation rate filing made by the National Council on Compensation Insurance, Inc. (“NCCI”). In its filing, the NCCI requested an overall average decrease in rate levels of 14.1% for all new and renewal workers’ compensation policies written in the State of Florida, effective January 1, 2009.

Notice of Meeting: NCCI Appeals Board

The Appeals Board provides a mechanism by which aggrieved parties may obtain a review of the application of rules to their individual workers’ compensation policies.
