Insurance Agent Priscilla Taylor Resigns State House; Special Election Set
Jul 9, 2009
Florida Governor Charlie Crist issued an Executive Order today, July 9, 2009, announcing a special election in Florida House of Representatives District 84 to fill the vacancy created by State Representative Priscilla Taylor’s resignation.
On July 3, 2009, Governor Crist appointed State Representative Taylor to serve on the Palm Beach Board of County Commissioners, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of Addie Greene in April. State Representative Taylor, the owner and president of P. Taylor Insurance Associates and a State Representative since 2004, announced on June 25 that she was formally withdrawing her candidacy for re-election to the Florida Legislature in 2010. Instead she is running for the Palm Beach County Commission seat in 2010.
To date, only Delray Beach City Commissioner Mack Bernard has announced his candidacy for the House District 84 seat.
The special primary election is scheduled to be held on August 25, 2009, and a special general election will be held on September 22. The Governor’s Executive Order Number 09-155 is attached.
