IAIS Releases Actuary and External Auditor Relationship Issues Paper for Comment by January 26

The International Association of Insurance Supervisors (“IAIS”) Accounting Subcommittee (“Subcommittee”) has released the Issues Paper below for comment by Monday, January 26, 2009.  Comments may be sent to Henning Göbel at henning.goebel@bafin.de.

The purpose of the Issues Paper is to raise insurance supervisors’ awareness and expectations of the relationship between actuary and external auditor in the financial reporting process.

Comments previously submitted on the Paper by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (“NAIC”) International Solvency and Accounting Working Group may be viewed by clicking here.  A copy of the NAIC Model Regulation on Annual Financial Reporting, which can be viewed by clicking here, was included as a supplement to the Issues Paper.

The IAIS Issues Paper next will be discussed during the Subcommittee’s February 3 meeting.
