House Insurance Committee re Florida No-Fault Law 1/10/2006
Dec 11, 2006
The House Insurance Committee met this morning to further discuss issues relating to the Florida No-Fault law, and to specifically discuss fraud and other consumer issues. The Committee heard testimony from the Department of Financial Services (DFS) Division of Insurance Fraud, the DFS Division of Consumer Services, the Consumer Advocate and other members of the public. The Committee acknowledged the need to legislatively address fraud, and although the Committee did not take any action, the Committee discussed several methods to reduce the likelihood of insurance fraud, including limiting personal injury protection benefits to only those individuals identified on the subject police report and eliminating exemptions for clinic licensure.
