House Bill 365 re Proof of Liability Insurance 1/12/2006

Attached you will find a copy of House Bill 365 that may be of interest to you. The bill requires requires an applicant for registration to do business as a motor vehicle repair shop to furnish proof to the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services of certain liability insurance, provides that failure to maintain such insurance is grounds for denial, revocation, or refusal to renew a registration, provides that a violation of the requirement to maintain liability insurance is a criminal violation, and provides administrative fines and criminal penalties. The Senate companion bill is Senate Bill 108, which has been referred to the Transportation Committee and the Banking and Insurance Committee. The Senate bill passed the Transportation Committee on January 10, 2006.

The House bill has been referred to the Agriculture Committee, the Insurance Committee, the Governmental Operations Committee, the Agriculture and Environment Appropriations Committee, and the State Resources Council. The bill was passed out of the Agriculture Committee yesterday . Please review this and let us know your thoughts.
