Governor Sets Special Election Date for Representative Mealor’s District 34 Seat

Governor Charlie Crist on August 24, 2007 issued Executive Order Number 07-172, announcing a special election on November 6, 2007 to fill the vacant seat of House District 34, formerly held by State Representative David Mealor. The District represents Lake Mary, Florida, which is located north of Orlando.

Representative Mealor is resigning his seat in October to pursue the vacant post of chancellor of the state’s community-college system. The Republican lawmaker, who had one year left in his term, said he has not yet formally applied for the chancellor’s position.

The special election will coincide with the November 6, 2007 general elections.
