Governor Crist Signs SB 2498 Into Law; Vetoes Citizens Review Task Force Appropriation

On Monday, June 11, 2007, Governor Charlie Crist signed into law Senate Bill 2498 by Senator Rudy Garcia (R-Miami) relating to Hurricane Preparedness and Insurance.Â
However, the Governor vetoed a $600,000 nonrecurring appropriation from the Insurance Regulatory Trust Fund for the Citizens Property Insurance Corporation Mission Review Task Force that was part of the bill.Â
A copy of the Governor’s Transmittal Letter regarding this SB 2498 and is attached for your review. The bill is effective June 11, 2006, except as otherwise provided.
The Governor also was presented with several bills relating to insurance and other matters outlined below. The Governor must sign or veto these bills by July 26, 2007, otherwise they will become law automatically.
