Governor Crist Makes Education Appointments

Florida Governor Charlie Crist today, July 28, 2008, announced the appointment of Frances Haithcock, 65, of Tallahassee and Dr. Eric Smith, 58, of Tallahassee to both the Education Commission of the States and to the Board of Control for Southern Regional Education.

Governor Crist Appoints Two to the Education Commission of the States and the Board of Control for Southern Region Education
TALLAHASSEE – Governor Charlie Crist today announced the following appointments:
Education Commission of the States
- Frances Haithcock, 65, of Tallahassee, Chancellor of K-12 public schools for the Florida Department of Education, succeeding Cheri Yecke, appointed for a term beginning July 28, 2008, and ending at the pleasure of the Governor.
- Dr. Eric Smith, 58, of Tallahassee, Commissioner of Education for the State of Florida, succeeding John Winn, appointed for a term beginning July 28, 2008, and ending at the pleasure of the Governor.
Board of Control for Southern Regional Education
- Frances Haithcock, 65, of Tallahassee, Chancellor of K-12 public schools for the Florida Department of Education, succeeding John Winn, appointed for a term beginning July 28, 2008, and ending June 30, 2012.
- Dr. Eric Smith, 58, of Tallahassee, Commissioner of Education for the State of Florida, succeeding Cheri Yecke, appointed for a term beginning July 28, 2008, and ending June 30, 2009.
