Governor Crist Announces Consumer-Oriented Property Insurance Shop and Compare Web Site

On Tuesday, June 26, 2007, this office attended a press conference by Governor Charlie Crist regarding the creation of a consumer-oriented property insurance Web site, www.ShopAndCompareRates.com.
Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty joined the Governor in this announcement. The Web site is designed to provide comparison information about homeowners’ insurance rates throughout Florida.
According to Commissioner McCarty, the Web site will feature the comparison of insurance rates for 25 companies in each of Florida’s 67 counties based on a $150,000 home with a $500 deductible and a 2% hurricane deductible. The current companies that are being used for rate comparison are:

Commissioner McCarty stated that the Web site will evolve in that additional companies will be added as well as additional variables that impact rates.
