FPCA Member Feedback Requested: Amendments Filed to House Property Insurance Package

Apr 24, 2009

As of today, April 24, 2009, 10 amendments have been filed to the most recent version of House Bill 1495, including the following two late-filed amendments:

  • Bar code 836321 by State Representative Priscilla Taylor relating to public housing authorities self-insuring. To read the amendment, click here.
  • Bar code 387865 by State Representative Alan Hays that would require all rating agencies or rating services to clearly state in their public reports and ratings whether any reinsurance from the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund was allowed to be counted as an asset of the rated entity. Florida Property Casualty Association member feedback is requested on each of these amendments.  Comments may be forwarded to Katie Webb at kwebb@cftlaw.com.

Now in the process of its fourth revision, HB 1495 is the Florida House of Representatives’ omnibus property insurance package and is awaiting third reading on the House Floor.  Its Senate counterpart, SB 1950, is awaiting second reading in the Senate.  Twenty-six amendments have been filed to SB 1950 (with four withdrawn) since its April 21 inclusion on the Senate calendar.
