FPCA Homeowners Division Meeting Update and Subcommittee Assignment Request

Dec 3, 2008

The Florida Property and Casualty Association (“FPCA”) Homeowners Division met on December 2, 2008, in Orlando, Florida and approved the creation of four subcommittees to begin drafting specific legislative and regulatory proposals in areas of interest to the Members.  The subcommittees are:

  1. Assessments/Insurance Tax (FHCF/Citizens)
  2. Mitigation
  3. Public Adjusters
  4. Regulatory Reform

Each subcommittee requires a Chairman and three members.

Please e-mail Trevor Mask at tmask@cftlaw.com as soon as possible if you are interested in serving on a particular subcommittee.  It is our goal for each subcommittee to submit specific legislative proposals to the FPCA by December 18, 2008.  Thank you for your anticipated participation in this endeavor.

During the meeting, the FPCA also approved a motion to request proposals for the services of a public relations firm.  Don Silver of the public relations firm Boardroom Communications, Inc. will present a service proposal to Members during the next FPCA meeting and will be prepared to discuss the next steps if Members choose to engage his company.

The next FPCA meeting is scheduled to be held in-person on December 22, 2008, starting at 11:00 a.m. at the offices of American Traditions Insurance Company, in Pinellas Park, Florida.
