FPCA Automobile Division: Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Financial Responsibility Processing System Survey Results Issued
Apr 10, 2012
Florida Property and Casualty Association Automobile Division Members:
In a report issued to respondents of its recent Financial Responsibility Processing System survey yesterday, April 9, 2012, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles’ (“DHSMV”) Bureau of Motorist Compliance advised that one of its goals is to clean up and organize its insurance database. Once implemented, the data reloading process will require all fire and property and casualty companies authorized to issue motor vehicle policies in Florida to send all active policies (in XML format) to the DHSMV by December 31, 2012.
Although many survey respondents indicated that the DHSMV should consider implementing online verification, the report indicated that, although this is also a goal, it is not one within the scope of the current project.
A memorandum outlining the survey results and corresponding pending changes is attached.
