Florida House of Representatives Speaker Will Weatherford has appointed former State Representative Gary Aubuchon to serve a three-year term as a member of the Citizens Property Insurance Corporation (“Citizens”) Board of Governors (“Board”). The appointment was made today, August 2, 2013.
Mr. Aubuchon fills a vacancy left by Chairman Carlos Lacasa, another former Florida legislator, when his Board term expired on July 31. A new Board Chair must be appointed by Florida Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater.
In a Citizens news release issued today, Mr. Lacasa made the following statement:
“I would like to congratulate Speaker Will Weatherford on his choice of former Representative Gary Aubuchon to succeed me as a member of the Citizens Board of Governors,” Lacasa said. “As a former ranking member of the Florida House, Mr. Aubuchon will bring much needed political sensitivity to this highly technical position. Citizens is an integral component of Florida’s economy and needs the solid leadership that Representative Aubuchon can contribute.”
