Florida’s Citizens Property Insurance Publishes CEO Gilway’s Prepared Remarks During Rate Hearing This Morning

As the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (“OIR”) began its rate hearing on Citizens Property Insurance Corporation (“Citizens”) in Tallahassee this morning, August 27, 2014, the State-run insurer released a copy of prepared remarks and slides delivered by its President and CEO Barry Gilway during the proceedings. Also included was a county-by-county list of rate recommendations for Citizens’ homeowners (HO-3) insurance policies.

In a revised advisory issued yesterday, the OIR noted a correction on File Log # 14-13751, which had been noted incorrectly in the previous advisory issued on August 20, 2014 as an 8.6 percent decrease in Citizens’ Coastal Account Mobile Homeowners Physical Damage Only (Dwelling) Wind-Only policies. It has been changed to reflect the correct proposed rate change of an +8.6 percent increase.
