Florida’s Citizens Property Insurance Extensive Hurricane Matthew Outreach Effective, Well-Received
Dec 2, 2016
Florida’s Citizens Property Insurance Corporation (“Citizens”) engaged in extensive communications campaigns both before, during and after Hermine and Matthew–the two hurricanes that impacted Florida this year.
In their meeting yesterday, December 1, 2016, Citizens’ Consumer Services Committee members were advised that response to this outreach was very positive–particularly to a first-ever advisory email Citizens sent to policyholders in advance of Hurricane Matthew.
With Florida Public Radio Emergency Network advertising efforts focused on Volusia County and its vicinity in Matthew’s aftermath, Citizens reinforced the reminder to “Call Citizens First”-a tagline for its ongoing campaign designed to stave off policyholder calls to assignment of benefits providers in the wake of property damage.
Successful Citizens emergency operations centers set up in Brevard and St. John’s counties served nearly 450 policyholders served from October 11 through October 16 in Matthew’s long wake along the entirety of Florida’s eastern coastline.
