Florida Surplus Lines Service Office Upgrades SLIP Information Portal

Dec 6, 2010

The Florida Surplus Lines Service Office (“FSLSO”) has updated its Insurer Surplus Lines Information Portal (“SLIP”), a Web-based program through which insurers can submit filings directly to the FSLSO database.  The updates, which are intended to streamline the reconciliation process, include new mandatory data fields.

These changes do not apply to insurer FTP batch submissions.

An FSLSO article that appeared in its “Insurer Submitter eNews” publication is reprinted below.

Insurer SLIP Changes

Effective October 1, FSLSO released several enhancements to Insurer SLIP that included new mandatory data fields designed to streamline its reconciliation process.  The new fields include:

Insured’s State of Domicile:  This new field is found in the Policy Details section.  It requires the insurer to include the insured’s location and not just the location of the risk.  For example, if a policy includes a location in Florida but the insured’s home office is located in New York, the state of domicile would be New York.

Florida Allocated Premium:  The Transaction Details section now includes a field that requires the insurer to include the Florida portion of the total premium if the policy is multi-state.  Using the example above, if a policy that is domiciled in New York included a Florida portion and that portion’s premium is $5000, the insurer will need to type $5000 into the Florida allocated premium field.

Total Allocated Premium:  The Transaction Details section also includes a field that requires the insurer to include the total premium of the policy. Continuing with our example above, if the total premium, including Florida’s portion, totals $100,000, then the insurer would need to type $100,000 into the Total Premium field.

Additionally, the Reports Section received a brief overhaul with the addition of a new available report.  The Activity Detail Report, previously known as the Submission Response Report, displays the Confirmation Number, Policy Number, Submitted Date, Effective Date, Insured Name, Expiration Date, Agent/Agency/Broker, and the Premium for previously submitted data.  Searches can be conducted by entering the Month and Year, Quarter and Year, Year, or Specific Date.
