Florida Senate Insurance Bill Action: February 28, 2012

The Florida Senate Budget Subcommittee on Health and Human Services Appropriations (“Subcommittee”) met today, February 28, 2012 and considered SB 668 by Senator Alan Hays.
The Subcommittee initially did not pass the bill, defeating it by a vote of 2 to 4. After the vote, Senator Eleanor Sobel moved to reconsider the vote, since not all senators on the Subcommittee were in the room when the vote was taken.
The Subcommittee ultimately passed SB 668 by a vote of 4 to 3.
The bill is moving through the process with two amendments that were adopted in the Senate Health Regulation Committee.

CS/SB 1860 relating to Motor Vehicle Personal Injury Protection Insurance
The Senate Budget Committee temporarily postponed CS/SB 1860 relating to Motor Vehicle Personal Injury Protection Insurance, promising that the bill would be discussed further at a future committee meeting. However, today was the final day for regularly scheduled Senate Committee meetings to be held.
The House version of the bill is scheduled to be heard on March 1, 2012.
