Florida Senate Banking and Insurance Committee Reviews Unsuccessful 2010 Bills

The Florida Senate Committee on Banking and Insurance (“Committee”) met today, December 8, 2010, to prepare for the upcoming 2011 Regular Legislative Session. The Committee is chaired by Senator Garrett Richter, with Senator Chris Smith serving as Vice Chair.
Chairman Richter briefly reviewed Committee bills that passed the Senate in 2010, but were vetoed by the Governor or did not pass the House. These bills are:
- Senate Bill 2044 relating to Insurance
- Senate Bill 2264 relating to Property Insurance Claims
- Senate Bill 2070 relating to Public Record Exemptions/Financial Regulation
- Senate Bill 1532 relating to Reverse Mortgage Loans
The Committee discussed issues pertaining to Florida’s foreclosure process during most of the meeting and did not discuss insurance matters in detail.
