Florida Revenue Estimating Conference Meeting: November 21
Nov 21, 2008
Florida’s Revenue Estimating Conference, made up of the State’s economists, met today, November 21, 2008 in Tallahassee to discuss projected anticipated revenues for fiscal year (“FY”) 2008-2009, which ends June 30, 2009.
During the meeting, economists updated the projected State deficit to reflect a decrease in sales tax collections because of a decline in auto sales and fewer tourists visiting Florida. The updated deficit projection for FY 2008-2009 is $2.2 billion. This is an increase in the projected deficit from August, which was $1.4 billion. In addition, the economists projected a deficit as high as $6 billion for FY 2009-2010.
The supporting documentation regarding the projections is not currently available, and will be provided as soon as it is posted.
