Florida Public Adjuster-Related Rule Development Scheduled During April 2014

The Florida Department of Financial Services’ Division of (Insurance) Agent and Agency Services (“Division”) advised today, April 4, 2014, that it has initiated development for proposed Rule 69B-220.052, F.A.C. relating to the supervision of public adjuster apprentices and prohibited acts by public adjuster apprentices.
Although no text has yet been drafted for the proposed Rule, its purpose is to implement Section 626.8651, F.S. to specify when a public adjuster apprentice requires supervision by a licensed supervisory public adjuster, as well as specify the activities that a public adjuster apprentice shall not conduct.
If requested in writing, a Rule Development Workshop will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 116 of the J. Edwin Larson Building, 200 E. Gaines Street, Tallahassee, FL 32399.

Rule Development Also Initiated For Public Adjuster Conduct, Ethics
The Division has also proposed amendments to Rules 69B-220.051, entitled “Conduct of Public Adjusters” and 69B-220.201, “Ethical Requirements” that regulate the conduct of public adjusters, public adjuster apprentices and adjusters’ ethical requirements.
If requested in writing, a Rule Development Workshop will be held on April 15 at 10 a.m. in Room 116 of the J. Edwin Larson Building, 200 E. Gaines Street, Tallahassee, FL 32399.
