Florida Office Of Insurance Regulation Seminars On I-File And Rate Collection System Changes
Jun 28, 2007
Â
The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (“OIRâ€) presented Web-based seminars from June 21, 2007 through June 26, 2007 in order to explain the I-File and Rate Collection System (“RCSâ€) changes for homeowners, dwelling fire, private passenger automobile, and commercial lines insurance.
The seminars were presented by representatives from the OIR, who provided step-by-step instructions on the use of the updated system. This new system combines the prior I-File System and RCS, creating one cohesive design.Â
Key Differences
• The I-File System and RCS have been integrated, forming the Property and Casualty Rate Data Collection and Management System (“Systemâ€).
• Several commercial lines have been added, including commercial property, commercial auto, medical malpractice, attorney liability, business owners, and general liability.
• The new system enhances the external user’s ability to submit and respond to rate filings more efficiently and accurately.
• It enhances the internal user’s ability to precisely and more effectively review, analyze and evaluate rate filings.
• It provides for error checking in the filing submission stage, which should significantly reduce the hours of analysis, maintenance and support required to correct errors.
• It provides for easy business process expansion and/or significant variations “in load.â€
• It provides the functionality to allow for the collection and management of data for commercial lines.
• It enhances reporting capabilities.
• It offers consumer rate comparison searches.
• The premium breakdown sheet for private passenger automobile insurers is now in Microsoft Excel format.
External users may continue to submit files using the current system through June 28, 2007. Those files not submitted by that date (i.e., files still in your workbench) will be purged.Â
Starting June 29, 2007 the entire system will be offline in order to implement the aforementioned changes. Beginning July 2, 2007, all files will be submitted using the System.
Recordings of these Web-based seminars will be uploaded onto the OIR’s website within the next few days, and help files will be available on the OIR website beginning July 2, 2007. For your convenience, we have attached a manual that explains the new system in an easy-to-read format.Â
