Florida Insurance Commissioner McCarty Responds to CFO Jeff Atwater on Property Insurance Rates
Aug 12, 2013
Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty responded on August 9, 2013 to an August 7 letter from Florida Chief Financial Jeff Atwater questioning why Florida property insurance rates have not decreased in direct correlation to a “significant drop in reinsurance costs worldwide.”
In his letter, Commissioner McCarty provided several reasons as to why rates might not have dropped and assured CFO Atwater that the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation will remain vigilant in its review of rate filings to ensure all possibilities for consumer rate relief are identified.
The letter is attached in PDF format.
